Structured Data: choosing AUTO or MANUAL mode
Not sure which mode to use? This guide gives you a simple decision path so you can pick AUTO or MANUAL with confidence and avoid over-complicating your setup.
Where to open Structured Data settings
Go to:
SEO Rank Genius โ Indexing & Sitemaps โ Structured Data
The first choice you will see is your operating mode: AUTO or MANUAL.
Structured Data
Premium schema command center with strict Auto/Manual controls.
Switch between AUTO and MANUAL, then review the stats row below.
What AUTO mode does
AUTO applies selected schema types to existing and newly published posts automatically.
- Best for bloggers, business sites, and most stores.
- Lower maintenance after initial setup.
- Great when you publish often and want consistency.
Enable Auto Mode
Turn on the Enable Auto Mode toggle in the AUTO panel.
Save Auto Settings
Select your Auto Schema Types, then click Save Auto Settings.
Run Auto Backfill Now
Apply schema to existing posts that do not have it yet.
AUTO panel
Auto Schema Types
Pick schema types in the grid, save, then run backfill for existing content.
When MANUAL mode makes sense
MANUAL gives you direct control. Manual generation overrides auto and is saved as manual-locked.
MANUAL panel
Manual Schema Types
Enable Manual Mode, pick types, then generate or validate selected posts.
Which mode should you choose?
Use this quick rule:
Posts & Pages table
| Content | Post Type | Current Schemas | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| SEO Checklist 2026 | post | Article | generated |
| About Us | page | WebPage | generated |
| Old Draft Post | post | โ | missing |
The Posts & Pages table shows schema status for every piece of content.
Switching modes safely
- Make the change during a low-traffic time if possible.
- Save Auto Settings or Save Manual Settings once โ avoid switching back and forth repeatedly.
- Review a few important pages in the Posts & Pages table after switching.
- Give the site time before deciding if another change is needed.
