Site audit & AI drafts

SEO Advisor: Connect GSC & Site Audit

Learn how to connect Google Search Console, run your first site-wide audit, read health scores, and use AI drafts — all without changing live content until you approve it.

8 min read Pro feature Read-only until you apply

Before you start

SEO Advisor is a Pro feature inside SEO Rank Genius. It audits every published page on your site, surfaces issues and opportunities, and can generate AI content drafts — but nothing goes live until you review and apply it yourself.

Safe by design Scans are read-only. AI drafts are saved separately from your published posts. You choose when (or if) to copy or replace content in WordPress.

You’ll need:

  • A paid SEO Rank Genius plan (Personal, Pro, or Agency)
  • WordPress Administrator access
  • Google Search Console access for your site (recommended — unlocks the GSC score and Rank Genius opportunities)

If you haven’t finished initial setup yet, start with our Setup Wizard guide first.

Connect Google Search Console

GSC connection powers real search data — clicks, impressions, queries, and indexing insights. SEO Advisor uses this for its GSC sub-score and for Rank Genius content opportunities.

1

Open the Search Console tab

In WordPress, go to:

SEO Rank Genius → Tools & Analytics → Search Console

2

Sign in with Google

Click Connect Google Search Console, choose the Google account that owns your property, and approve access when prompted.

3

Confirm the green badge

Once connected, SEO Advisor shows a green GSC connected badge in its header. You can also connect during the Setup Wizard (Step 3).

No GSC yet? You can still run a site audit — On-Page, Technical, and Content scores work without GSC. Connect later to unlock search-performance insights and the Rank Genius opportunity queue.

Open SEO Advisor

From your WordPress dashboard:

SEO Rank Genius → Tools & Analytics → SEO Advisor

The page header shows your GSC status, a Brand Voice button, and Re-scan Site. If you see an upgrade prompt instead, your plan needs to be activated — visit SEO Rank Genius → Pricing inside the plugin.

Run your first site scan

On first visit you’ll see an empty state with Scan Site Now. Click it (or use Re-scan Site in the header) to start a full audit of published posts and pages.

  • A progress bar appears while the scan runs in the background — you can stay on the page or navigate away; scanning continues via AJAX batches.
  • Large sites take longer. Wait for the progress bar to finish before interpreting scores.
  • When complete, the dashboard fills with your Site Health score, sub-scores, issue counts, and the page list.
Tip for new sites Run your first scan after you’ve published core pages and connected GSC (if available). Re-scan monthly or after major content updates.

Health scores explained

After a scan completes, the top dashboard summarizes your site:

Site Health (overall)Combined score from 0–100 in the large ring. Higher is better.
On-PageTitles, meta descriptions, headings, and on-page SEO basics.
TechnicalIndexability, canonicals, schema presence, and technical checks.
ContentWord count, readability signals, and content quality patterns.
GSCSearch Console performance and indexing alignment (requires GSC).
Issue chipsTap Critical, Warnings, Opportunities, or Passed to filter the page list.

Below the rings, a Score trend chart appears after you’ve run multiple scans — useful for tracking improvement over time.

Page Analysis tab

This is the default view after scanning. Each row is a published post or page with its score and top issues.

Filter and search

  • Use pills (All, Critical, Warnings, Opportunities) to narrow the list.
  • Search by page title or URL in the search box.
  • Pagination controls appear for large sites.

Fix issues on a page

Click any page to expand details. For each issue you can:

  • How to fix — step-by-step guidance in a modal (why it matters, steps, how to verify).
  • Edit — jump straight to the WordPress editor for that post or page.
  • Create Draft — generate an AI draft for supported issue types (uses cloud credits).
  • Mark done — dismiss resolved items; they move to the History tab for 30 days.
Manual fixes vs AI drafts Many issues (missing meta, weak titles) can be fixed manually in the post editor. AI drafts are optional shortcuts — preview before applying anything to live content.

Rank Genius tab

The Rank Genius tab shows content opportunities pulled from search intelligence — keyword gaps, AI suggestions, trend radar items, and quick wins. Requires GSC for the richest data.

Content gapsTopics or queries where you have little or no coverage.
AI suggestionsStrategic recommendations based on your site and search data.
TrendsRising queries worth targeting before competitors do.
Quick winsLow-effort improvements with meaningful search upside.

From any opportunity you can Create Draft to start a new post or page outline, Snooze items you’re not ready for, or Mark done when handled. Export the queue as CSV with Export CSV.

Content Drafts & Brand Voice

Brand Voice profile

Click Brand Voice in the SEO Advisor header to set how AI writes for your site:

  • Brand / site name, tone, audience, and writing style
  • Words to include or avoid
  • Sample content so the AI matches your voice
  • Optional: auto-mark Rank Genius opportunities as done after a successful draft

Save once — every draft generation uses this profile.

Creating AI drafts

From Page Analysis or Rank Genius, open Create Draft and pick a draft type. Common options include:

Meta titles & descriptions15 credits — quick SEO title/description variants.
Content outline30 credits — structured H2/H3 plan for a page.
Intro hook / H2 improvements20–40 credits — sharpen openings and headings.
FAQ block + schema50 credits — FAQ content with structured data.
Refresh / expand content75–100 credits — update existing page sections.
New post from Rank GeniusKeyword, title, and post type — full article draft for gaps.

After generation, preview the draft, copy text, or use Replace in WP where supported. All drafts also appear under the Content Drafts tab.

Cloud credits AI drafts consume SEO Rank Genius cloud credits shown before you generate. Check your balance under plugin account settings if generation fails.

History & re-scan

Content Drafts tab

Lists every AI draft you’ve created from SEO Advisor. Open previews, copy content, or jump to the WordPress editor.

History tab

Items you mark as done are kept for 30 days so you can restore them if needed. After 30 days they’re removed automatically.

Re-scan Site

Click Re-scan Site anytime to refresh scores after you’ve fixed issues or published new content. The latest scan replaces the active dashboard data; previous summaries feed the score trend chart.

Quick troubleshooting

I only see an upgrade screen

SEO Advisor requires an active paid plan. Activate your license under SEO Rank Genius → Account or upgrade from the in-plugin pricing page.

GSC badge still says “Connect GSC”

Finish connection under Tools & Analytics → Search Console. Use the same Google account that verified your property. Allow pop-ups if the OAuth window doesn’t open.

Scan stuck or very slow

Large sites scan in batches — keep the tab open or return after a few minutes. If progress freezes, click Re-scan Site to start fresh. Check that your host allows long-running admin AJAX requests.

GSC score is low or empty

New properties have limited data — give Search Console a few weeks of impressions. Confirm the connected property URL matches your WordPress site address (www vs non-www).

AI draft failed or ran out of credits

Credit cost is shown before generation. Retry with a shorter draft type (e.g. meta instead of full expand). Verify your cloud account is linked and has remaining credits.

“Replace in WP” greyed out

Some page builders store content outside the standard editor. Use Copy and paste manually, or edit in WordPress directly via the Edit link on the issue.
