Rank Math vs Yoast in 2026: Tested Side by Side (Plus the Alternative I Built)
Rank Math and Yoast are the two most installed SEO plugins for WordPress, and both changed a lot in the last year. I installed the current versions on the same test site, went through every setting, and checked both pricing pages this week. Here is how they compare, and where each one falls short.
The short answer
Rank Math’s free version includes redirects, a 404 monitor, IndexNow, schema types and Search Console data that Yoast keeps behind Premium or does not offer. Yoast is calmer, has the best known content analysis, and its Premium plan bundles Local, News and Video SEO. The big pricing difference: Rank Math Pro covers unlimited personal sites, while Yoast Premium is priced per site.
Pick Rank Math if you want the most features without paying. Pick Yoast if you want a gentle, proven plugin and run one or two sites.

Rank Math is better for most people who want features without paying, because its free version includes redirects, IndexNow, a 404 monitor and more schema options. Yoast is better if you want a simpler plugin with strong readability guidance. For several sites, Rank Math Pro is usually cheaper because Yoast Premium is priced per site.
Rank Math vs Yoast pricing in 2026
Both have free versions on WordPress.org. The paid plans are structured very differently.

Checked on yoast.com and rankmath.com, 27 September 2026. Rank Math showed prices in euros for our location, and taxes are extra. Both offer a 30 day money back guarantee.
Two things are easy to miss. Rank Math’s first year price rises at renewal, so budget for the second year figure. And Yoast’s per site pricing adds up fast: three sites on Premium cost $356.40 a year before any bulk discount.
The chart uses Rank Math’s renewal price in euros and Yoast’s price in dollars, so treat it as a rough guide rather than an exact comparison. The gap is large either way.

What Yoast looks like now
Yoast’s settings are organised into clear site features you switch on or off. It added AI tools, an llms.txt generator and a schema aggregation endpoint for conversational search. Several useful features, including IndexNow and internal linking suggestions, carry an Unlock with Premium label.
What Rank Math looks like now
Rank Math is built from modules. The free version already includes redirections, a 404 monitor, Instant Indexing for IndexNow, an llms.txt module and Search Console analytics. Its newest module, AI Visibility, tracks how your brand is mentioned in AI answers. AI Link Genius, podcast, news and video sitemaps are Pro only.
Yoast vs Rank Math: ease of use
Yoast is the easier plugin for beginners. There are fewer settings, the traffic light analysis is simple to follow, and most defaults are sensible. The downside is upsell pressure: Premium prompts appear throughout the settings and editor.
Rank Math offers far more control, with an easy and an advanced mode. That power comes with more screens to learn, and on a small site many modules are switched on that you may never use. Turning off what you do not need keeps it tidy.
Both put their main controls in a panel in the post editor, and both give a score for each post. Treat those scores as a checklist, not a ranking prediction. A post can score 100 and still not rank if the content is not the best answer.
What about AIOSEO vs Yoast?
All in One SEO is the third big name, and AIOSEO vs Yoast comes down to style. AIOSEO has a guided setup wizard, a checklist style site audit and WooCommerce SEO in every paid plan. Yoast has the simpler editor analysis and bundles Local, News and Video SEO with Premium.

If you already use one and it works, switching rarely moves rankings on its own.
